Receive Your Provisional License

If you’ve followed all the steps above correctly, congratulations! You’re now a provisional license holder. You must keep your intermediate license for at least six months or convert it to a full-time license when you turn 18. However, you must ensure that there aren’t any traffic convictions on your driving record.

Restrictions

Here are some restrictions of a provisional license:

  • You can’t drive between 10 pm and 5 am unless you’re going to church, school, or work. Being accompanied by a licensed driver who’s over 21 years old is also favorable.

  • You can’t drive with more than one person that isn’t part of your household. You’ll only be exempt from this if you’re accompanied by a driver who’s over 21.

How to Renew and Replace Your Oklahoma Driver’s License

If your license is lost, damaged, or has expired, you’ll have to replace or renew it. Moreover, your license expires every four years, with the opportunity to renew a year before its expiry. If you’re a permanent resident or US citizen, you can visit a Tag agent. However, if you’re none of the aforementioned, you must show your immigration documents to the examiner first. If your license expired over three years ago, you’ll have to retake your written and road skills test.

In Person

You can renew your license in person. To do that, you must:

Go to a Tag agency. If your license expired over a year ago, make sure to take your birth certificate with you. You can also schedule your appointment online to save time.

Bring along a primary and secondary ID document.

Get your picture taken.
Pay the fee of $38.50. However, if you’re over 62 years old, you’ll have to pay between $13.75 and $21.25. Also, there’s no renewal fee if you’re over 65.

Note: If it’s been over a year since your license has expired, you can renew it. However, you’ll have to incur a late fee of $15. The DHSMV might even ask you to retake the written test. You will have to apply for a new license if your license has expired over a year ago.
